Team Will Cyclists travel through Metropolis
approximately 6 or 6:30 p.m.
Superman Statue, downtown Metropolis
Team Will is a non-profit cycling charity based in California. Team Will’s mission is to raise community awareness and funds for families who have children with cancer.
On July 5, two teams of cyclists comprised mostly of youth (14-17 years old) will leave Sacramento, California, and arrive on July 11 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Along the way they will be visiting children and their families at various hospitals. They are scheduled to visit the St. Louis Children’s Hospital the morning of July 10.
On July 10, they will travel from St. Louis, Missouri, to Nashville, Tennessee. They plan to travel through Metropolis to visit one of the most famous Superheroes, Superman. When they ask children what superhero power would they want the most, many say Superman’s powers! So, it only seems logical for the team of young cyclists to visit the home of one of the most famous and revered superheros of our time.
The cyclists anticipate an arrival time of approximately 6:00 or 6:30 p.m. to gather at the Superman Statue for a photograph and to share it with their “heroes” around the world through social media outlets. They will arrive with two minivans with Team Will magnets on doors for identification.
