Haircuts for BarkAID 50 States Tour
9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Headlines Salon, 718 E 5th St., Ste. 200, Metropolis
Need a haircut? Well, on Aug. 25, individuals in need of a “new do,” will be able to visit Headlines Salon and help raise money for Project Hope No-Kill Animal Shelter at the same time by participating in BarkAID.
BarkAID was created by master hairstylist, Patrick Lomantini, of Wichita, Kansas. He began began searching for a way to save homeless animals, and discovered a way to unite his passion for hair, fashion and helping homeless animals and in 2010 BarkAID was launched. Lomantini, a two-time world record holder, travels the United States — all 50 — making stops in several cities in each state, providing dry haircuts at salons, with the proceeds from the haircuts going to local shelters in each city.
Anyone wishing to participate in this first-time event for Project Hope is urged to contact Headlines Salon at 618-524-4245 to schedule an appointment. The suggested donation is $20. While appointments are encouraged, walk-ins on the day of the event will be welcome.
Project Hope volunteers as well as some of the animals available for adoption will be on hand at Headlines Salon to remind people of where their donation to BarkAID is going. Project Hope will also have T-shirts and other items available to purchase. B’s Catering, located in the same complex as Headlines will also be offering a $10 lunch, with a portion of the proceeds from the lunch also benefiting Project Hope.
Individuals who participate in BarkAID will also be able to register for a Pampering Package Giveaway, which will feature hair care, health and beauty products, including a $100 to Harrah’s Bridges Restaurant. The prize package is valued at over $250.
