This Bike Ride takes place in the beautiful Shawnee Hills of Alexander County, Pulaski County and Union County. The routes will wind through terrain that includes easy-ride, flat stretches, rolling hills as well as a few “challenging” hills. Bike along the trails that Lincoln used to travel to Thebes from Jonesboro and along trails along the Santa Fe hills that the French used to enter Illinois. For the first time, this year’s 100 mile ride will head in to “Wine Country” in Union County.
In addition, The Wetlands Center is also the beginning of a bike ride on the Tunnel Hill State Trail for one of the 65 mile rides. Cyclists may choose to travel a 2.5 mile bike trail that is a part of the Tunnel Hill State Park.

The Tour de Shawnee is a beautiful, scenic ride during which riders can experience the serenity of the rolling hills, farm land, Shawnee National Forest, Horseshoe Lake, historical sites such as the Thebes Courthouse and Mound City National Cemetery. Whether you are a seasoned veteran who likes the challenge of longer rides and difficult hills or are a beginner who likes to take it easy, we have a ride for you in the Tour de Shawnee. You will enjoy the camaraderie of hundreds of other cyclists who come to the Tour de Shawnee year after year. Rest stops feature lots of homemade, freshly-prepared goodies and desserts.
