Thursday-Sunday, June 8-11, 2017
39th Annual Superman Celebration
10 a.m. – 10 p.m. most days
Superman Square and other locations throughout Metropolis

What started as a one-day “Homecoming” for the local residents has now evolved into a 4-day celebration that attracts Superman Fans and families from around the world. Forty-seven states and six different countries were represented at the 2016 Celebration. This year marks the 45th year that Metropolis, IL has been designated as the adopted “Home of Superman.”

The Celebration this year will be dedicated to the memory of Noel Neill, who portrayed Lois Lane in the Adventures of Superman television series. Neill, was a repeat guest to the Superman Celebration for many years and was even given the title “First Lady of Metropolis” when a statue of her portraying Lois Lane was revealed in her honor. Neill passed away in July of 2016.

The Superman Celebration kicks off at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 8th and runs through 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 11th. Many special events are planned for this year’s Celebration including musical entertainment, a carnival, Superman Celebrity Autograph and Q & A Sessions, and the Heroes & Villains Costume Contest. Also, planned for this year, is the return of the Hollywood Ball, in memory of Noel Neill.

Celebrity Guests
Dean Cane took on his biggest role to date in 1993 as Superman in the television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. The series ran for four seasons, ending in 1997. Currently, Dean can be seen on the popular “Supergirl” TV playing the foster dad.
James Marsters played “Brainiac” in TV’s Smallville and guest starred in Without A Trace, Millennium, Andromeda, The Mountain, Saving Grace, Caprica and most recently Warehouse 13, Supernatural and Hawaii Five-O. His voice-over talents can be found portraying “Lex Luthor” on the DVD release of Superman: Doomsday.
Margot Kidder played “Lois Lane” in four movies: Superman, Superman II, Superman III, & Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.
Sarah Douglas played “Ursa” in Superman and Superman II. With worldwide attention focusing on her, the actress began to carve out an extraordinary career in Hollywood, whilst remaining true to her very English upbringing, from her hometown of Stratford Upon Avon.
