Great American Solar Eclipse
7 p.m. – 8 p.m.
McCracken County Library, 555 Washington St., Paducah, Ky.
On August 21, 2017, Paducah will be in the path of totality for a total solar eclipse, the first of its kind in over 40 years. For 2 minutes and 19 seconds, daytime will become twilight and the sun’s corona will shimmer in a darkened sky. In anticipation for our area’s significance in the astronomical event of the decade, astronomer, author, speaker, and former NASA consultant, Kevin Manning, will examine the mysteries of eclipses and other celestial events.
Following a presentation in the meeting room, will will head outdoors to the library garden (weather permitting) to view celestial objects in the night sky through a powerful telescope. All programs are free and open to the public.
